My thoughts on Saved by the Wolf The McCullough Pack Book 1 by Nola Li Barr

Saved by the Wolf
The McCullough Pack Book 1
By Nola Li Barr

Fate brought us together, but the scars of our pasts threaten to tear us apart.

Jill

The moment I hear his voice, something inside me shifts. He seems to reach right into my soul, and suddenly, all I want is to be near him, to feel safe in his arms. But I’ve been down this road before. My last relationship left me broken, bruised, and wary. And the way his friends hang on his every word? It’s too familiar—too much like my past.

Still, there’s an undeniable connection between us. My heart whispers that he’s different, that he’s the one I’ve been waiting for. But how can I trust it when my head is screaming to run?

Luc

She’s shy, quiet . . . human. Not someone my wolf should be drawn to, but he is. When I’m near her, my wolf is calm, content, and all he wants is to claim her as mine. But I’ve sworn off love. I know too well the pain of a broken heart, and I promised myself I wouldn’t go through that again.

Yet, no matter how much I try to push her away, my wolf won’t let me. She’s the one, and every fiber of my being knows it.

Saved by the Wolf is the first book in the McCullough Pack series—a heart-tugging, sweet paranormal romance with all the love, none of the spice, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Nola Li Barr (also known in earlier versions as Nola Li Gordon) delivers a heartwarming, sweet paranormal romance in Saved by the Wolf. The story centers on Jill and Luc, two very different souls haunted by past wounds. Jill, having recently healed from a painful relationship, is cautious and wary — yet there’s something about Luc (and his wolf) that feels deeply familiar, almost as though fate has drawn them together. Luc, on his side, has sworn off love after previous heartbreak, but his wolf is relentless in its call to connect with her.

What makes this book stand out is the gentle balance of tension and tenderness. While there are emotional stakes — especially around trust and healing — the romance is clean, comforting, and entirely focused on connection rather than spice. Barr’s writing draws you into the pack’s dynamics, making you feel their loyalty and protectiveness, and her characters are easy to root for. As the first book in a larger series, it sets a solid foundation, leaving you hopeful for more without feeling like anything important is left dangling.
